My Favorite Internet Conversation of the Day

I found this thread on Amazon. It is entitled “Comics I Dislike.”

Some highlights:

• I am a democrat who never liked “Bloom County” and is no fan of “Opus.” I find the characters unappealing.

• Interesting that Senora Gose dislikes “Family Circus.” For the most part, I like it okay EXCEPT for when the artist pretends a 7-year-old kid drew the strip. I don’t like that deception and nobody would ever fall for that one! No kid did it - it’s obvious the same cartoonist trying to put one over on anyone unfamiliar with the strip. I hate that and don’t see the point of that cartoonist doing this. It isn’t appealing OR funny, sorry.

• I dislike most newspaper comics today. They used to be great. What happened to Mutt and Jeff, Krazy Kat, Lil’ Abner, Nize Baby, Odd Bodkins, Flash Gordon, Dream of the Rarebit Fiend, Gasoline Alley, Little Orphan Annie, the original Nancy, Peanuts, Snuffy Smith, Dick Tracy, Gags and Gals, Poor Arnold’s Almanac, Thimble Theatre etc.? Those were the greatest comic strips ever made. What’s this new crap?
